Q. Where are you located?
A. I work from home so my address isn't located on my business cards or website due to privacy. Once you book online, you'll get all the details in a confirmation email from "The Alter House via BookedIN".
Q. How much will my alteration cost?
A. This is a loaded question! Cost depends on the following factors: beadwork, overlay lace, horsehair braid hemming application, design changes, bodice changes and wedding dress alterations. I've just about seen it all, so alterations generally range between $100 - $450. To get a firm quote, send me a text along with a picture(s) of your dress and what needs to be done to 587.800.9908.
Q. How long will it take?
A. Now that graduation season is beginning, you can expect your dress in 2-4 weeks.
Q. Do I need to bring a deposit?
A. A $50 deposit will be taken once your fitting is over, with the remaining amount due at pickup. Current payment methods are cash or e-transfer.
Q. Oh crap, I forgot my shoes at home. What do I do now?
A. No worries, I LOVE shoes and have a variety of heel heights we can work with. Your appointment will not be lost!! Just leave them in the car next time...
Q. I love my dress, but it's a bit too small. What can I do?
You have a couple options:
1. There may be just enough fabric in the side seams and the zipper to expand the bust area or hips, OR
2. Remove zipper (or part of it) to add a corset/lace-back to help you close up your dress. If your dress needs hemming, you can use the matching fabric to create loops and the long strap. The result is a dress that never looked too small to begin with!
Q. Can I make a tie from the extra fabric from my dress for my date?
A. Unfortunately, no. Ties need a minimum 0.5m of fabric since they are cut diagonally. At best, you can make a bow-tie if you have a minimum of a 4" wide remnant from your hem (see picture above).
